RSVP here in order to receive the Zoom link. Beer will be distributed the week before the event, at Augustana in Hyde Park, delivered to those who can’t get out, and shipped to whomever would like some.
When Dietrich Bonhoeffer began his ministry as a Lutheran pastor, Communists and Fascists were locked in struggle in his native Germany. As Adolph Hitler rose to power, Bonhoeffer had opportunities to stay abroad in safety in New York and London, but he chose to return to Germany. Douglas Anderson’s play tells the story of Bonhoeffer’s part in an attempt to assassinate Hitler, and the consequences of his decision.
April 9th, the night of this event, is also the day Bonhoeffer was executed and is the day when Lutherans throughout the world remember him as a saint.
The beers are a Dortmunder Export style lager, that we’re calling Dietrich’s Dortmunder, and an Irish-style Foreign Export Stout, that we’re calling History Repeats.
