Notes on Today’s Service

This Lent, our Confession of Sin falls at the end of the Prayers of the People and just before the celebration of the meal, tying the proclamation of forgiveness to the tangible sign of forgiveness in the Sacrament of the Altar.

We also continue to hear stories from the Hebrew Scriptures that are not normally in the lectionary, stories that may be unfamiliar to us. Our First Reading, from Samuel as re-told by Sandol Stoddard in the Doubleday Illustrated Children’s Bible, with accompanying art-work by Tony Chen, tells the story of the death of Eli and the loss of the Ark of the Covenant.

Thank you to this week’s lector,JoRachel Pierce, and to Joe Klonowski, who sings the Kyrie. Padraig McGuire served as both videographer and cantor, Seminarian Rajeev Geddam preaches and Pastor Nancy Goede presides.

During this time of isolation and separation, it is especially important that we all receive (and read) our weekly emails from Augustana, to know what is going on, and to connect.
