Get Involved

At Augustana, there is room for those who are exploring church or aren’t sure what they think about organized religion, as well as for life-long Lutherans.  There are various ways and levels of involvement and all are invited.

Worship

Worship is on Sunday mornings at 8:30am and 10:45am.  Campus Ministry students also worship (following a meal) on Thursday nights at 6:30 pm.  Many in our community find serving as choir members, instrumentalists, readers, and sacristans to be meaningful and deepen their experience of worship.

Peace and Justice

Augustana and its members are involved in a variety of social justice projects, including anti-racism programming, a monthly community breakfast, support of the Hyde Park Refugee Project, and involvement with the Hyde Park-Kenwood Interfaith Council. You can join in one of these efforts or take the initiative on a project that engages you.

Church Council and Committees

Healthy congregations are built on lay leadership and Augustana is blessed with talented and able members who volunteer their time in many ways.  The church council provides overall leadership and committees (worship and music, hospitality, property, education, stewardship) provide opportunities for anyone to roll up their sleeves and help.

Gardening and Building

For those who enjoy rolling up their sleeves and getting dirty, Augustana is always looking for folks to help with its beautiful outdoor and indoor spaces, including maintenance and gardening.

Membership

Augustana invites you to consider deeper involvement in our community through membership.  In addition to traditional membership, we offer an associate membership for students and others who may have a home congregation.

For more information on getting involved in these or other ways, please see Pastor Goede or send her an email at pastor@augustanahydepark.org
