Nancy Goede is the parish pastor of Augustana. She first came to the congregation as a seminarian at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC), and was called as the campus pastor in 1996. She served for seven years before being called to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in suburban Oak Lawn, where she served for eleven years. There, she worked closely with Muslim communities on a variety of projects as the president of the Oak Lawn Religious Leaders Association, and was the vice-president of the Chicago Religious Leadership Network on Latin America. She is currently the vice-president of the Hyde Park-Kenwood Interfaith Council, co-dean of the South Conference of Metro Chicago Synod, and serves on the advisory council for OMNIA Peacemaker Teams. Her husband, Jim Vondracek, is very active at Augustana; they have two grown sons. You may contact Pastor Goede at firstname.lastname@example.org
Matthew Stuhlmuller serves as campus pastor at Augustana, leading the Lutheran Campus Ministry presence within the congregation. Before his call at Augustana, he served as the mission development pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Chicago. In addition to his ministry at Augustana, he also serves in the ELCA’s church-wide office of Domestic Mission, focusing on efforts to build strong congregational vitality. Matthew has degrees from UCLA, the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and the University of Chicago. You may contact Pastor Stuhlmuller at email@example.com
Padraig McGuire has served as cantor to Augustana since 2018. He joined the congregation in 1999 while studying in the Joint-Doctor of Ministry program at Catholic Theological Union. Ordained in the ELCA in 1995, Padraig served eight congregations in the Metropolitan Chicago Synod as interim pastor from 2005-2017. One of those congregations hosted an immigrant community from the Philippine Independent Church (PIC), an ecumenical partner with the Lutheran World Federation. After years of shared ministry, in 2018 the PIC licensed Padraig as a priest associate. With graduate degrees in music and theology, Padraig has sought to blend the titles “pastor and “musician” to the Glory of God. Augustana’s invitation in 2018 to serve as cantor has provided a hallowed space to blend these callings as he leads the congregation’s song.
In March of 2021, in addition to his duties as Cantor, Padraig also stepped into the parish administrator position. In that role, he both addresses office functions and manages renting out space in Augustana’s building to community partners and others. Though daunting at first, Padraig has found, like systematic theology, he really enjoys his position.
