Easter Vigil and Sunday Guest Organist

On Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday, Michael Terry Caraher returns to Augustana to serve as guest organist. His music at Augustana is made possible through the generous underwriting of the Krentz Fund, honoring the memory of Augustana member Edgar Krentz.

Michael is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area and currently lives in Chicago. He graduated from St. Olaf College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Music in Church Music with an organ emphasis, where he was a student of Dr. Catherine Rodland. In addition to his music degree, he also has a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies. Before attending St. Olaf, Michael graduated from the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy where he studied organ with Mr. Thomas Bara, and before that he studied with Dr. Susan Jane Matthews. Michael has given recitals across the United States and in Europe at churches such as the National Cathedral in Washington DC, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Aberdeen (Scotland), and the Jakobikirche in Lübeck (Germany). In addition to his organ playing, Michael sang in and performed as a soloist with the St. Olaf Choir and was a voice student of Dr. Anton Armstrong.
