Last night, LYRA, a vocal ensemble from St. Petersburg Russia performed for fifty people in Augustana’s acoustically excellent sanctuary. A beautiful performance about 2/3’s music from the Russian Orthodox Church tradition and the remaining were compositions inspired by Russian folk songs. Co-sponsored by St. Makarios the Great Orthodox Mission in Hyde Park.
The visual for this video isn’t great (I wasn’t expecting to record anything and didn’t sit with that in mind), but the sound is pretty good for a camera recording. This is The Lord’s Prayer as practiced in the Russian Orthodox tradition.
