Marshmallows roasting over a warm fire that fights the crisp October chill; the smell of fresh hot dogs and lake Michigan in the air; sounds of friends and strangers alike laughing, good conversation all around — this is what the students of UChicago have to look forward to at Augustana’s Campus Ministry Kickoff Bonfire! This Thursday, October 8th at 6pm at Promontory Point Augustana’s Campus Ministry will be celebrating the beginning of this year’s activities with food, friends, and an absolutely freezing lake (so don’t jump in).
Next Wednesday, October 14th at noon, the weekly Brown Bag Bible Study begins. This academic year we’ll be covering the entire Gospel of John together. Then, on Thursday, October 15th at 6:30pm, the weekly Vespers & Dinner will start as well. This is a chance for students to pray together and enjoy a home cooked meal provided by a member of the congregation. (To volunteer to provide a meal, sign up via the sheet in the Narthex or email Jo at office@augustanahydepark.org.)
“After [Pastor] Matt and I tabled at the Orientation and Activity Fairs the last few weeks, and I got to meet lots of cool people, I am very excited to kick this off,” said Vicar Adam Groenke.
All undergrad and grad students welcome!
