At a meeting after service on Sunday the 27th, members of Augustana unsurprisingly called Pastor Matthew Stuhlmuller to serve as Parish Pastor.
While Pastor Matt was in his office, members of the church wrote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on slips of paper to cast their votes. Though not a single member wrote ‘no’, passing the motion unanimously. One slip of paper even had a smiley face, and two included exclamation points!
“I’m happy; this is a renewed vision for Augustana,” Carolyn Rahaman, Augustana’s Treasurer, said.
“Matt is an excellent supervisor and model for leadership in the church. I’m excited to continue to work with and learn from him as he takes on this new position,” Vicar Adam Groenke.
“I wrote ‘unsurprisingly’ in the first sentence of this article for a reason, it’s obvious Matt is going to thrive in this new role,” Jo Faren King, Parish and Facilities Administrator added.
While Pastor Matt himself said, “After serving this wonderful community as the Campus Pastor for the past seven years, it’s a joy and a privilege to lead the congregation into the next season of ministry.”
Clearly, the members of Augustana are in agreement that this is the right direction for the future.
