In two Sundays, on May 24, we celebrate Pentecost, one of the principal feasts of our liturgical year. Ascension Sunday (May 17) is the end of the story of Jesus’ life on earth and then, on Pentecost, we begin a new story: the story of the Holy Spirit descending on the disciples at Pentecost and uniting the followers of Jesus in the Church. Pentecost is also the spark of an international effort to include everyone, Jewish and non-Jewish, into God’s family. It is the story of the beginning of the church.
This year, Pentecost falls on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, so we will also begin our summer schedule that day, with one worship service at 9:30 am. Everyone is encouraged to wear something red to worship that day!
