Donald Luther Rem was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Waterford, Wis. to the Rev. Oscar and Marie Rem. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Wogen in 1957. Don graduated from Luther College in 1952 and Luther Seminary in 1956. He taught High School English in Chicago Public Schools for thirty years. After retiring he did many projects for Augustana Lutheran Church, neighbors, and friends. He is survived by his wife Mary of 66 years, son Peter (Melissa), daughter Kara (Jamie Roe) granddaughters Maura, Brigid, Jasmine, Holly, Leah, and Cheyenne, and sister Karen (Mandsager). Donald died February 19, 2024, and was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Marie, brothers Richard, John, Odin, and sister Ann. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5500 S. Woodlawn, Chicago, on Saturday. April l3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., preceded by visitation at the church at 1:00 p.m. and followed by interment of ashes in the columbarium.
