Epiphany Friday

Augustana has been invited to join with First Immanuel Lutheran Church to celebrate the Epiphany on Friday night, January 6th – the light of Christ revealed to the wider world, symbolized by the visit to the manger by the Three Wise Men.

The service will include burning of the Christmas greens and a short service of scripture and prayer in a candle lit church. The service will also include a last spirited singing of Christmas carols and hymns and will be followed by refreshments afterwards.

First Immanuel is located on Ashland near Roosevelt. Parking on Ashland is available after 6 pm and and also behind and around the church. Both the # 9 and # 12 buses stop at our corner and the Pink Line at Polk is about 3 blocks away.

First Immanuel’s membership is diverse, with a strong African-American community. Historically a Missouri Synod (LCMS) congregation, Immanuel’s pastor recently became rostered by the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the ELCA.
