Hyde Park & Kenwood Interfaith Council Happenings

by Kyle Duff, Pastoral Intern

Augustana continues as an active member of the Hyde Park & Kenwood Interfaith Council, which resumed its monthly meetings after a 2-month summer hiatus.

  • The Council meets monthly, on the third Thursday of the month from 5:30-7pm on Zoom. The meetings are open to the public, but you must request the Zoom link ahead of time. Augustana members are welcome to attend. Please contact Pr. Nancy or Intern Kyle for access to the Zoom link.
  • The Anti-Violence Task force of the Interfaith Council continues to meet in their efforts to find the faith communities’ role in the effort to address the root causes of violence in our communities. They are seeking more participants, and we would like a regular Augustana representative join the working group. For more info or to express interest contact Pr. Nancy, Intern Kyle, or chair of the Task Force, Rev. Veronica Johnson at vjohnson@hpuc.org
  • Mark your calendars for the annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Day celebration at Rockefeller Chapel the morning of Thanksgiving Day Nov. 24th. There is anticipated to be both in person and online opportunities to participate in the service.
  • The HPKIFC is discerning opportunities to further support migrants that have been brought to Chicago from Texas. In the meantime, one way to support these families and the initiatives is to provide physical donations or volunteer support organized through the City of Chicago.
