During the 11-week discussion of climate change in the Adult Forum this past winter and spring, attendees periodically asked what Augustana members could do about climate-related issues and shared their own ideas. Among those were allying Augustana with Faith in Place, a regional interfaith organization devoted to environmental stewardship and advocacy, and hosting an eco-fair at Augustana in the fall. With the help of Esther Menn, Jim Schwab connected with Rev. Brian Sauder, the executive director of Faith in Place, earlier this summer and explored options. The result was to schedule a meeting for all Augustana members interested in the formation of a potential “Green Team,” the organizational mechanism Faith in Place uses, for Augustana, and a discussion of what we might prefer to do.
The meeting will take place at Augustana from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, and all interested people are most welcome. Brian will also be attending to help us review possible activities and approaches. See you there!
