Affirming Our Commitment to Peacebuilding and Anti-Violence Work

An opportunity to add our signatures to this statement during worship on Sunday, February 13
Keith Cooper, Augustana member, murdered during a carjacking last summer

Augustana and other members of the Hyde Park Interfaith Council have joined with several groups from surrounding neighborhoods to form an Anti-Violence Task Force. The increase in public violence and murders in Hyde Park last year, including Augustana member Keith Cooper, was the spark for forming the group. The ongoing purpose is to recognize and respond to increasing violence across our area. The Hyde Park Herald recently published the organizing statement, which you may read at this link.

On Sunday, February 13, during worship there will be a chance for all of us at Augustana to add our signatures to this statement and make it our own. If you’re interested in working with the task force on upcoming events, talk to Pastor Goede.
