Project Room at the Inn to buy gifts for LSSI foster kids

Project Room at the Inn is our congregation’s way to connect with foster children served by Lutheran Social Services of Illinois’ (LSSI). It is based on the Bible passage where Mary and Joseph were looking for a place to rest so that Mary could give birth to Jesus. “And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7)

The inn that they encountered had no room, but the owner allowed them to stay in the manger with the animals, which they gratefully did. God made a way in what appeared to be an impossible situation. In the same way, we trust that God will make a way and bless the lives of the children in these programs.

To take part, select an ornament from the table in the narthex. Each ornament has a bit about a child in foster care. Decide how much you would like to donate to buy a gift for that child. Then:

  • Scan the QR code and pay by phone, OR
  • Go to LSSI.org/Donate and donate online, OR
