Two days ago, the Hyde Park Herald published the article Local Hunger Programs Continue Work Amid Steady Demand, focused on programs in the neighborhood and the various ways they serve those with food insecurity. The article included the new Love Fridge at Augustana, a partnership between The Love Fridge Chicago, UChicago Civic Engagement, and Augustana.
The article includes the previous history of the Love Fridge over at 57th Street and how it came to be relocated to our church, as well as an overview of the various hunger programs and resources in our neighborhood. It includes a few quotes from Pastor Goede, including her concern that the need is going to increase as pandemic-related benefits cease.
