RSVP for Beer and Cheese Pairing, Sept. 13th

Join us for a Beer and Cheese Pairing event, Friday night September 13th, 7:00 pm at Augustana (55th and Woodlawn in Chicago).  RSVPs are required, so please follow this link to reserve your spots – space is limited and, last year, we had to cap attendance , so reserve your spots today.  

We will pair five handcrafted beers across a variety of styles with artisan cheeses.  The five brewers will be with us and will talk with us about their beer and its style, as well as the rationale behind the cheese pairing.  Other food items will be available, buffet style, throughout the evening.  

All five brewers are gold-medal winners, from two local clubs, the Brewers of South Suburbia (BOSS) and the Chicago Homebrew Alchemists of Suds (CHAOS). I’m organizing the pairings and will be brewing a gathering beer and one of the pairing beers.

This will be the fifth time I’ve organized a pairing event or dinner. In addition to brewing, I am a BJCP National Judge, organize workshops for judges and others on beer tasting and evaluation, off-flavors, and teach classes on styles and beer appreciation. We are not selling tickets to the pairing event, but rather encouraging attendees to make a donation, with $35 our suggested amount.  That is only a suggestion, though- contributing more or less is fine.  The net proceeds from the event will underwrite Augustana’s costs related to our commemoration of the Centennial of the 1919 Chicago Race Riots.  That commemoration includes the 2019 Peace Camp, a talk by the author of One Red Drop, and an art installation titled Blood Lines by the artistic director of NON:op.  

Weather permitting, we’ll be outside in Augustana’s pleasant, urban courtyard.  Parking is available in our lot and the 55th Street bus stops in front of Augustana.  Please RSVP for you and your guests here and share this post on your Facebook or other social media!
