Augustana Lutheran Church of Hyde Park

THADDEUS TUKES is a jazz composer, arranger, and percussionist from Chicago. He has performed with a variety of artists, including Branford Marsalis, Victor Goines, Roy Hargrove, Nicole Mitchell, Joan Collaso, and Chance the Rapper. He has been showcased at venues including Carnegie Hall, Symphony Center in Chicago, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Chicago Jazz Festival, Hyde Park Jazz Festival, Jazz Showcase, Green Mill, and others. Among other awards and distinctions, he has also been named a Luminarts Jazz Fellow.

Tukes graduated from Whitney Young Magnet High School on Chicago’s Near West Side, and is a graduate of Northwestern University, where he studied Jazz Vibraphone & Piano and Journalism. He was, in fact, the first Jazz Vibraphone major ever at Northwestern, and the first person in the U.S. to receive a degree in Jazz Vibraphone from a non-conservatory university.

Jazz pianist and composer ALEXIS LOMBRÉ lives and performs in Chicago and Detroit. Lombré, a four-time Ravinia Jazz Scholar, has been a student of the musicians and composers Benny Green, Steve Million, and Willie Pickens. As bandleader of the Alexis Lombré Trio/Quartet, she has performed at the City of Chicago’s Made in Chicago Jazz Series in Millennium Park, Hyde Park Jazz Festival, Bucktown Art Festival’s New Jazz Roots Stage, the Hyde Park Jazz Society’s Sundays at Room 43, Trinity UCC Jazzapalooza Jazz Festival, University of Chicago’s David & Reva Logan Center for the Arts’ Third Tuesday Jazz Series, and Charles Heath Presents: Jazzin’ on the SouthSide. Her debut CD Southside Sounds has been played throughout the country and charted at #70.
