Holy Week and Easter

The Three Days

Maundy Thursday                Thursday, April 13 – 7:30 pm

On this night, we remember the events of Jesus’ last hours by washing feet, as Jesus washed his disciples’ feet.  We eat the Holy Supper, as Jesus ate the Last Supper with his disciples, and we strip the altar, as the soldiers stripped Jesus.

Good Friday                                Friday, April 14 – 7:30 pm

On this night, Good Friday, we read the story of the crucifixion, or the Passion, as told by the gospel writer John.  We pray for our world, and meditate on the mystery of the cross and salvation.

Easter Vigil                             Saturday, April 15 – 8:00 pm

On this night, we strike new fire, a sign of the first work of the Creator, and the one who is the Light of the World.  We tell some of our “family stories” from the Old Testament, and renew baptisms. After we celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter, we have a late night party with good food, breaking all the fasting of Lent.
