Hyde Park’s Love Fridges, including the one hosted at Augustana, are struggling with supplies as the need for food assistance grows. Here is an article about it in the Hyde Park Herald and here is an excerpt:
A second Love Fridge location in Hyde Park is outside of Augustana Lutheran Church, 5500 S. Woodlawn Ave. Sarah Hoehn, who manages that fridge, said she’s also seen a steep drop in supplies — as much as a 70% decline in the last three months.
“The need for donations is astronomical,” Hoehn told the Herald. “We’ll have people come and fill it through different partnerships that we have, and it’s often emptied out within four hours.”
