The Green Team is organizing a workday at Steelworker Park on Saturday, May 24.
Chris Weber, our resident naturalist, says that we are “in for a treat.” It’s one of his favorite parks in the city, he says, and also one of the most unusual. He says the newly opened Park 566 next door is “brilliant.”
The workday is from 10am to noon; if you would like to carpool, please plan to meet at Augustana at 9:15am. Please let Pastor Nancy know if you are planning to come carpool, so that we don’t leave without you.
The workday leaders advise everyone to wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty, closed-toed shoes and full-length/crew socks. Sun protection is advised, as well as a light-full-sleeve top and hat. There is no water fountain so everyone should bring their own filled water bottles.
The park is located on Lake Michigan at 87th Street.
