The year 2025 marks the 1700th anniversary of the world’s first Ecumenical Council, the Council of Nicaea of 325, a key moment in the history of Christian faith and for the ecumenical journey today. Members of the Italy-based Bose monastic community invite all Christians to rediscover the riches of the Nicaean Creed and re-appropriate this living heritage for contemporary cultures.
At Augustana, during the Time after Epiphany, Cantor Michael Terry Caraher leads us in joining a long tradition of affirming our faith in word and song by monotoning the Nicene Creed. As we progress through the seasons he will accompany the creed on organ, while the assembly continues to monotone, elevating our prayer through song.
