In a community like we have at Augustana, we help each other in shaping and building our faith – through conversations, fellowship, activities, and worship. For the next few weeks, you will have the opportunity to share any resources you’ve found helpful in nourishing your soul and shaping your faith. I’ll share any we receive here in the newsletter and on the website – it could be an article or book you’ve read, a podcast you find insightful, a video series that deepened your faith, or any other resource you’d like to share with our community. Send a brief paragraph and a link to the resource to office@augustanahydepark.org
I’ll start by sharing a podcast that I’ve found to be faith building – Strange New World by Matthew Myer Boulton and the team at the Salt Project. In summary, the podcast seeks to help listeners understand the Bible, “the world’s most influential, misunderstood book – a podcast for skeptics, believers and everyone in between.”
I’ve always struggled to find meaning and inspiration from the nativity stories, which is where the first few episodes of Strange New World begin. Boulton helped me see layers of meaning that had eluded me before, combining both a significant scholarship with a spirituality that speaks to me. He is a pastor in the Disciples of Christ and a graduate of the UChicago Divinity School, but now spends his time as the creative director at the SALT Project.
