Facilities Update: New Dishwasher, Elevator, Masonry Study

Dishwasher

The new, commercial dishwasher is now fully installed and ready to be used. It works differently than a home dishwasher, with pumped detergent and rinse aid, high temperatures, and fast cycles. After worship on Sunday August 20, there will be a quick introduction to using it for anyone interested. If you can’t make it then but would like an orientation, contact the parish office at office@augustanahydepark.org

Elevator

The elevator is working again. There were two separate issues in the fire safety system for the elevator – it needed new back up batteries installed, and then a ground fault error occurred and, after repairs, reoccurred. Once these issues were resolved, then a sensor issue in the elevator needed to be fixed.

Masonry Study

At our annual meeting in the beginning of the year, Augustana approved funding to retain a masonry consultant to evaluate the status of the building and help us build a prioritized, multi-year plan to maintain the building. Leverett Masonry Consulting was hired and, two weeks ago, they completed the onsite portion of their work. From that work, they will prepare a report to share with us in the next few weeks. If we wish, they will present it in person and answer any questions we might have. Leverett will not be doing any of the masonry work, they only consult with customers on what needs to be done. This work is an important step forward in our commitment to being good stewards of our physical space.
