Holy Week at Augustana

Palm Sunday Sunday, April 2, 8:30 am and 10:45 am

Jesus enters Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover, and the crowd welcomes him as a king, shouting “Hosanna!” and throwing palm branches to line his path.

Maundy Thursday Thursday, April 6, 7:30 pm

Finally, on Maundy Thursday, we hear the words of forgiveness that we’ve been missing in Lent. We remember the events of Jesus’ last hours by washing feet, as Jesus washed his disciples’ feet. We eat the Holy Supper, as Jesus ate the Last Supper with his disciples, and we strip the altar, as the soldiers stripped Jesus.

Good Friday Friday, April 7, 7:30 pm

On this night, Good Friday, we read the story of the crucifixion, or the Passion, as told by the gospel writer John. We pray for our world, and meditate on the mystery of the cross and salvation.

Easter Vigil Saturday, April 8, 8 pm

On this night, we strike new fire, a sign of the first work of the Creator, and the one who is the Light of the World. We tell some of our “family stories” from Hebrew scripture, renew baptisms, and celebrate Jesus’ resurrection with the first Eucharist of Easter.

Easter Day Sunday, April 9, 8:30am and 10:45 am, Breakfast at 9:30 am, Easter Egg Hunt at 10:00 am

He is risen! Alleluia! We celebrate the mystery and promise of Jesus resurrected.
